Billy Anderson’s journey in music began at the age of four, learning to play piano and read music before reading books. This set the stage for a lifelong career that spans decades. By 19, he had already transitioned from musician to engineer, starting with his own recordings. After college, Billy relocated to San Francisco, where he honed his craft as an intern at Razor’s Edge Studios. There, he collaborated with influential bands such as Melvins, Red House Painters, Steel Pole Bathtub, Jawbreaker, and Neurosis.
In 1992, Billy went independent, establishing himself as a sought-after engineer and expert of all things music. Over the years, he has worked with an impressive roster of bands across the globe, including Sleep, Swans, Mr. Bungle, Orange Goblin, Pallbearer, High On Fire, Cattle Decapitation, Fantomas, Amenra, and Los Natas, among many others.
Since relocating to Portland, Oregon in 2012, Billy has continued to make his mark in the music industry. He is a prominent figure at The Hallowed Halls, where he specializes in producing, engineering, and mastering music for a diverse range of local and international artists. In addition to his engineering work, Billy is an active musician, performing with various bands in the vibrant Portland music scene.
